a town of North America, in Georgia, seated at the mouth of the river Altamaha. It was founded by General Oglethorpe. The island it stands upon is called St Simon's; and is about 13 miles in length, and 4 in breadth. W. Long. 81° 25'. N. Lat. 31° 13'.
