a town of Suffolk, seated in a bottom on the river Preston. It has a handsome church, a chapel of ease, and a Presbyterian meeting-house, and had 2592 inhabitants in 1811. The streets are pretty broad, but not paved. Large quantities of yarn are spun here for the Norwich manufacture; and this town had once a considerable woollen manufacture, which is now decayed. E.
