four miles west from London, is a hamlet belonging to Fulham, has two charity-schools, a workhouse, a Presbyterian meeting-house, and a fair May 1. There are a number of handsome seats about it, especially towards the Thames; among which the most remarkable is the late Lord Melcombe's, which is a very elegant house, and contains a marble gallery. Population 7392 in 1811.
