Esebon, or Hesebon, in Ancient Geography, the royal city of the Amorites, in the tribe of Reuben, according to Moses: Though in Joshua xxi. 39, where it is reckoned among the Levitical cities, it is put in the tribe of Gad; which argues its situation to be on the confines of both.
