Volume 10 · 85 words · 1823 Edition

a borough, fair, and post-town, in the county of Down, and province of Ulster, 69 miles from Dublin. Here is a fine seat of the earl of Hillsborough. The town is pleasantly situated and almost new built, in view of Lisburn, Belfast, and Carrickfergus bay; the church is magnificent, having an elegant spire, as lofty as that of St Patrick's in Dublin, and seven painted windows. This place gives title of earl to the family of Hillsborough. N. Lat. 54° 30'. W. Long. 5° 56'.
