It is divided into the north and south parts, the former of which contains eight cities of the first rank, and 60 of the second and third; and the latter, seven of the first rank, and five of the second and third. It is a flat, open country, watered everywhere with brooks, lakes, and rivers, in which there are great numbers of fish. Here is plenty of wild-fowls; the fields nourish cattle without number, and the soil produces corn, and various kinds of fruits. There is gold found in the sands of the rivers; and in the mines they have iron, tin, &c. In short, there is such a variety of all sorts of commodities, that it is called the magazine of the empire.
