a village of Italy which has risen to distinction in consequence of a bloody battle between the Austrians and French, which was fought on the 14th June 1800, in which the French say, 15,000 of the former were killed, wounded, and made prisoners.—Marengo lies 3 miles S.E. of Alessandria, in the kingdom of Sardinia.
