MYROTOUM mare, a part of the Ægean sea, lying between Eubœa, Peloponnesus and Attica. It receives this name from Myrto a woman, or from Myrto a small island in the neighbourhood, or from Myrtilus the son of Mercury who was drowned there, &c.
