in Law, is a call of witness, or an open affirmation that a person does, either not at all, or but conditionally, yield his consent to any act, or to the proceeding of any judge in a court in which his jurisdiction is doubtful, or to answer upon his oath farther than he is bound by law.
Any of the lords in parliament have a right to protest their dissent to any bill passed by a majority: which protest is entered in form. This is said to be a very ancient PROTEST ancient privilege. The commons have no right to protest. See Parliament.
