STOMACHIC MEDICINES are such as strengthen the stomach and promote digestion, &c.

Stomachic corroboratives are such as strengthen the tone of the stomach and intestines; among which are carminatives, as the roots of galangals, red gentian, zedoary, pimpinella, calamus aromaticus, and arum. Of barks and rinds, those of cannella alba, sassafras, citron, Seville and China oranges, &c. Of spices, pepper, Stomachic ginger, cloves, cinnamon, cardamums, and mace.
