a town of Devonshire in England, situated on the river Tavy or Tave, containing 4723 inhabitants in 1811. W. Long. 4° 12'. N. Lat. 50° 37'. It sends two members to parliament, and gives the title of marquis to the noble family of Russel duke of Bedford.
