ANAMMELECH, an idol of the Sepharvaites, who are said in Scripture to have burnt their children in honour of Adrammelech and Anammelech. These idols probably signified the sun and moon. Some of the rabbins represent Anammelech under the figure of a mule, others under that of a quail or pheasant.
