son of Psammis, king of Egypt, the same with Pharaoh Hophrah in Jeremiah and Ezekiel. He ruined Sidon, and some say he put Jeremiah to death. He thought neither God nor man could dethrone him, which yet was easily done by Amasis, and he himself was strangled by the Egyptians.
