Bernard Forest de, a Catalonian engineer in the service of France, and member of the Academies of Sciences at Paris and Berlin, and of the Royal Society at London, was a celebrated mathematician, and author of a number of tracts, in which the science of mathematics is applied to military purposes. He died in 1765, aged seventy.
