or BONAVIDUS, Marcus Mantua, a celebrated civilian, who taught civil law with reputation, during sixty years, at Padua, the place of his birth, and died in 1582, aged ninety-three. His principal works are, 1. Collectanea super Jus Cesareum; 2. Consilia, tom. ii.; 3. Problemata Legalia; 4. De illustribus Jurisconsultis.

BENECULA, a low, sandy, and unproductive island of the Hebrides, eight miles in length and as much in breadth. It is situated between the islands of North and South Uist, from the latter of which it is separated by a narrow channel. It is annexed to the county of Inverness.
