a village and small port on the west coast of the island of Ceylon, twenty-eight miles to the south of Columbo, situated on the river Calura, which is one of the largest branches of the Muliwaddy, and is there about a mile broad. Arrack and rum are manufactured here, and there is a large plantation of sugar-canies, with tracts of cinnamon, scattered in the vicinity.
