sea-port town of Ireland, in the county of Louth, situated on a bay to which it gives name. The town is inconsiderable. Butter brought from the county of Tyrone is here shipped to a considerable extent; and large quantities of oysters are sent to Dublin. This town has a castle built on a rock, which is said to have been founded by King John. It is distant fifty-one miles north of Dublin. Long. 6. S. W. Lat. 54. I. N.
