or Karlovacze, a city of Hungary, in the province denominated the Sclavonian Frontier. It is situated on the south bank of the Danube, about ten miles from Peterwardein. It is the seat of the Greek archbishop, and, besides the cathedral, has two Greek churches and one Catholic, with 930 houses, and 5600 inhabitants, who carry on a considerable trade with the Turkish dominions.
