an arrondissement of the department of the Tarn and the Garonne, in France, 560 square miles in extent. It is divided into seven cantons, and these into 101 communes, containing 69,617 inhabitants. The capital, which gives name to the arrondissement, is situated on the river Sanguire, in a fruitful district. It contains 916 houses and 6895 inhabitants, employed in woolen, linen, and hat manufactures.
