an arrondissement of the department of the Meurthe, in France, extending over 420 square miles, divided into five cantons, and comprehending a population of 60,550 persons, in 133 communes. The chief place, of the same name, is a city situated on the Seille, where there is a small spring, and a refinery. There are 500 houses and 2850 inhabitants.
