a town and district of Hindustan, in the Balaghat ceded territories. The town is the capital of the district, and is seventy-three miles north from Cudapah. The district is situated among the eastern Ghaouts, between the 15th and 16th degrees of north latitude. It is of an irregular surface, and has many mountain streams, though no rivers of any magnitude.
