a large district of Hindustan, in the province of Hyderabad, situated principally between the 18th and 19th degrees of north latitude. It extends along the south side of the Godavary, and is in a very desolate state. It contains the ruins of numerous forts and villages, which show that it was formerly flourishing and highly cultivated.
