a city in the Turkish province of Gallipoli, where the rivers Moritza and Kisilnehr join. It contains about 8000 inhabitants, partly Greeks. The chief employment consists in making silk and cotton goods. The citadel served as a residence for the grand signior before the conquest of Constantinople.
