It is watered by the rivers Swapa, Usoscha, and numerous small streams, and is very productive of corn, potatoes, and hops. The inhabitants are about 98,000, in two cities and 138 villages, with sixty-five churches. The capital is a city of the same name, situated on the Swapa, but does not contain more than 1000 souls.
