a city of the Prussian province of Cleve-Jeliers, the capital of a circle of the same name. It is situated on the river Berne, is surrounded with walls, and contains two Catholic, a Lutheran, and a Reformed church, with 799 houses, and 5100 inhabitants, employed in making ironmongery articles, especially coffee-mills and cards for dressing cloths.
