FINKENWERDER, an island in the river Elbe, belonging to the kingdom of Hanover, in the bailiwick of Harburg, and between that city and Hamburg. It is fertile, and contains a small town of the same name, with 560 Finisterre inhabitants, who furnish the market of both cities with fruits and vegetables.
