It extends over 682 square miles, contains three cities, and 147 towns and villages, with 69,867 inhabitants. By the congress of Vienna this province, as well as those of Chablais Faussigny, and the upper part of Chambery, wherein Rumelly is situated, are declared to be forever neutral territories. The capital of the province is Annecy.
