a township of Yorkshire, within the parish of Birdall, in the wapentake of Morley, in the west riding of Yorkshire. The woollen manufacture employs the greater part of the inhabitants, who in 1801 amounted to 4309, in 1811 to 5902, in 1821 to 5952, and in 1831 to 6189.
