a bailiwick of the circle of the Upper Danube, in the kingdom of Bavaria, extending over 15 square miles. It contains three market-towns, fifty-two villages, and 155 detached agricultural establishments, and 11,492 inhabitants. It is a poor district, mostly covered with woods. The capital, of the same name, has only a population of about 1000 persons.
