a town, the capital of a bailiwick of the same name, in the circle of the Treisam, in the duchy of Baden. The bailiwick contains, besides the town, fifty-four villages and hamlets, and 12,800 inhabitants. The town is situated on the river Kandern, has some considerable iron-works, and contains 144 houses and 1527 inhabitants.
