a town and small district of Hindustan, in the province of Delhi. The district is situated about the 29th degree of north latitude, and is bounded on the north by the mountains of Kemaon. The soil is fertile, with the exception of a considerable portion that is overgrown with extensive forests. It was ceded to the Company in 1801 by the nabob of Oude, and is now included in the collectorship of Bareilly. The town is forty-eight miles north-north-east from Bareilly. Long. 79.39. E.
