a port of Ghilan, in Persia, on the Caspian. Its harbour, being much safer than that of Reshd, is more frequented by the merchants. It exports silk in considerable quantity. The Russians attempted to storm it, but were repulsed with great loss. It is 110 miles northwest of Reshd.
