a province of the Burman empire, situated between the twenty-second and twenty-fourth degrees of north latitude. On the north and east it is bounded by the province of Yunnan in China, on the south by the country of Yunshan, and on the west by Ava proper. The country is watered by the Lookiang or Thalnay river. It is mountainous, and but little known.
