a city of the kingdom of Württemberg, in the circle of the Neckar, and the capital of a bailiwick of the same name. It is situated in a rich and beautiful district, one of the royal residences, and the seat of the financial boards of the kingdom, is well built, and contains 1000 houses, with 5426 inhabitants, a considerable garrison, and a military academy. It has manufactures of cotton, woollen, and china-ware.
