or MAHAIM, a town of Hindustan, situated on the northern point of the island of Bombay. It formerly possessed a small fort, which was the defence of the channel running between it and Salsette. Here is the tomb of a Mahomedan saint, with a mosque attached to it; also a Portuguese church, with a college for Roman Catholic priests depending on it. It is 117 miles north of Bombay fort. Mahim is also the name of a town in the province of Dowletabad, belonging to the Mahrattas. Long. 72° 48'. E. Lat. 19° 39' N.
