a town of Italy, in the province of Alexandria, in Piedmont. It is situated on the right bank of the river Bormida, and contains 2400 inhabitants. It is celebrated on account of the battle fought on the plain near it, in 1800, when Bonaparte defeated the Austrians, and, in consequence of that victory, became the master of Italy.
