A city in the province of Andalusia in Spain. It is the head of a duchy, and with the surrounding country is the property of a duke, in whom are united the estates and titles of Medina Celi, and Medina Sidonia. The city is built on the side of a high mountain, from whence, owing to the translucency of the atmosphere, it has a fine view of the city and bay of Cadiz, and the populous towns and rich districts around it. It contains 5000 inhabitants.
