Messagium, in Law, a dwelling-house, with some land adjoining assigned for its use. Under the name of messague may be included a garden, shop, mill, cottage, chamber, cellar, or the like. In Scotland, messague denotes what is called in England the manor-house, or the principal dwelling-house within any barony.
