an arrondissement of the department of the Eure and Loire, in France. It extends over 402 square miles, is divided into four cantons and sixty-five communes, and contains 42,500 inhabitants. The capital is the city of the same name, situated on the river Huine, which here unites with the Arcisse, and both form a remarkable cascade.
