a district of the south of India, in the Carnatic, situated chiefly between the sixteenth and seventeenth degrees of north latitude, and on the south side of the river Kistnah. It was ceded to the British in 1801, and is now comprehended in the collectorship of Guntoor. The chief towns are Macheria, Timerycotta, and Currumconda.
