a high table-land of Asia, upon the western limit of Little Thibet, and bounded on the west by a mountain ridge of the same name. This ridge joins at its southern extremity the chain of Hindu Coosh, and stretches on the north into the territories of Cashmere, separating Chinese from Independent Tartary.
