a city of the kingdom of Bavaria, in the circle of the Rezat, which, with a district around it of seventy-seven square miles, inhabited by 7500 persons, forms a bailiwick, belonging to the mediatised count of that name, who, besides this, has other estates within the Prussian dominions. The city is situated upon the river Altmuhl, and contains the palace, two Lutheran churches, and 220 houses, with 1960 inhabitants.
