a city of Spain, in the province of Valencia, and the capital of a department of the same name, which runs along the coast of the Mediterranean, in the north-east part. The city stands on a hill which runs out into the sea. It has a citadel, and is surrounded with walls. This place is remarkable for the purity of the air.
