a celebrated town and fortress of Hindustan, in the province of Bejapore. It belonged till lately to the peshwa. It was in this fortress that the widow of Narrain Row took refuge after the murder of her husband, and where she brought forth her posthumous child, who succeeded to the dignity of peshwa.
