surnamed Diadochus, a Greek philosopher and mathematician, was born in Lyca, and lived about the year 500. He was the disciple of Syrianus, and the friend of the Emperor Anastasius. It is said, that when Vitalian laid siege to Constantinople, Proclus burned his ships with large brazen specula. This philosopher was a Pagan, and wrote against the Christian religion. There are still extant his Commentaries on some of Plato's books, and other of his works, written in Greek.
