a celebrated place of Hindu pilgrimage, in the province of Scrinagur. It is situated at the confluence of the rivers Alcananda and Calyanga, a large stream which rises in the mountains of Kedar. The confluence of these rivers is esteemed one of the sacred places of ablution, and is annually visited by an immense concourse of pilgrims of both sexes. Long. 79° 2' E. Lat. 30° 19' N.
