a large river of North America, which, rising in the Appalachian Mountains, runs south-east through the province of Georgia, and falls into the Atlantic Ocean, below the town of Frederica. It is formed by the junction of the Oakmuttye and Oconee, and is navigable for steamboats for 300 miles from its mouth.
