Alessandro**, a Florentine painter of the third epoch of the school, who introduced fine anatomy into his pictures. He also wrote an essay on painting, of considerable merit. Born 1535, died 1607. He was a nephew of Bronzino, whose name he assumed.

Cristofano**, the son of the former, was a superior colourist and excellent painter of portraits, and some reckon him among the best painters of the fourth epoch of the Florentine school. Born 1577, died 1621.—Lanzi, I.
