a small city of Spain, in the province of Albacete, to the north of the river Segura. A pyramid erected near it commemorates the decisive battle fought here in 1707, when the French and Spaniards, under the Duke of Berwick, gained a complete victory over the united forces in the interest of the Archduke Charles. It now contains 8700 inhabitants.
