Volume 2 · 61 words · 1860 Edition

an Athenian colony, built on the site of the Thracian city Evia Osoi, the nine ways, 497 years B.C. It was on the east bank of the river Strymon, near its origin from the lake Cercinitis. Its importance arose from its site on a navigable river, and its vicinity to the gold mines of Mons Pangaeus. It is now Jeni Keni.
